Karaka Studio, Waimea Inlet, Mapau

 

Our base for our first days exploring the Nelson/Golden Bay area: Karaka Studio, Waimea Inlet, Mapau. This was a sweet little airbnb that David found. A small studio with a friendly dog and a beautiful marshy estuary (that swallowed the kids' crocs in low tide). 

  

The kids had a loft to themselves (accessed by LADDER for increased fun). 

Simon slowly overcoming his fear of dogs after his experiences with George in Gamboa. (This dog actually looks a lot like George! But much steadier in temperament.)

 

And a peaceful glass of wine on the terrace (photo by Gwen!). We almost felt relaxed and free (not desperately scrambling for a place to live)... :)
