El Santuario de Chimayó. A tiny church tucked into the Sangre de Cristo mountains. A pilgrimage site, people coming from far and wide to be healed.
This chainlink fence leading up to the church, filled with handmade crosses
and individual prayers. Reminding me of the Wailing Wall I saw a few months ago in Jerusalem.
Through this chapel there is a smaller sanctuary room in the back, with a dirt floor and two small shovels. Visitors are invited to take a handful of the healing dirt.
