Gwendolyn - 6!

Six years ago today Gwendolyn was born....! It's amazing that we've been parents this long. Amazing the beautiful little human Gwendolyn has become!

We celebrated Gwendolyn's birthday with multiple events - cupcakes at her school a week ago Friday, a fairy extravaganza last Saturday, and cake at the Gamboa escuelita on the day of. Here are some pictures of the fairy fest - a chaotically, wonderfully rich celebration of Gwendolyn - I think she was thoroughly happy with every step of the process. The invitation:

It started with cake baking the night before. Followed by cake decorating the morning of. Efforts led by wonderful Clarice!! Who is with us for another bat-filled summer, this time living in our little guest apartment downstairs. FANTASTIC to have her back in Panama again!

Simon got in on almost all of the action - removed just long enough for Clarice to finish the ruffles on the Tinkerbell dress.

Next up was icing cupcakes, about 1000 of them. Now also assisted by Jodi Sedlock, an old friend and fellow bat researcher, visiting our lab for the week. Gwendolyn also extremely excited here.

Fast forward a bit to the party itself - here with her best friend Mila, blowing out a large number of candles.
